Digi Doors Open Round Up 15: Groundhog Day Edition!

Break out of your winter rut with this week's edition of #DigiDoorsOpenRoundup!

The doors may have closed on #DigiDoorsOpen this year, but that doesn't mean that the fun has to stop! Each week we will be creating a themed roundup of our digital resources so that you can enjoy a virtual day out from home.

Happy Groundhog Day! Did you know that the return of the groundhog signals that spring is close on the horizon? We see blue skies in our futures! But until then, the Doors Open Days team have been reaching for their favourite tours, audio trails and podcasts for entertainment.

This week's venues cover Glasgow and Orkney

Glasgow

Doon the Watter, with John Gilbert Architecture: Our Digital Content Officer Laura loves to join John Gilbert and his daughter for a sunny virtual bike ride when cold rainy days keep her indoors wrapped up in a duvet! On the tour you will cross bridges, descend through tunnels and sail over the water as you travel the Clyde's 19 bike accessible crossings.

Govanhill Heritage Trail: Our Project Officer Godsal has been using podcasts to explore her local area and learn more about the city that she calls home. Govanhill was once the beating industrial heart of Glasgow, home to shipbuilders, iron workers and miners alike! On this audio trail you can hear about the remnants of this industrial past and the communities that shaped it.

Orkney

Radio Orkney: Our Communications and Events Officer Erin can't resist taking a peek behind the curtain and getting behind the scenes access to this far flung radio outpost! As lockdown measures continue to impact island life, Orcadians rely on BBC Radio Orkney to keep them in the loop. Follow a day in the life of a broadcaster as they work around the clock.
