Commonwealth Games - Glasgow 2026
From July 23rd until August 2nd, the Commonwealth Games are back in Glasgow! To celebrate this huge sporting event, we are highlighting venues taking part in this year’s Doors Open Days festival. Discover the football heritage of Scotland, have a go at boxing or tennis, learn about physical activities that help support veterans, or enjoy a free swim.
The Doors Open Days 2026 programme will go live on our website on July 31st, sign up to our newsletter to get notified when it is live. Here is a sneak peek of some of the venues taking part this year!
Tynecastle Park, 10am – 4pm, 27th - 28th September, Edinburgh
Hearts Heritage strive to bring the rich history of the Club to life, through exhibitions, tours and community-based activities for all ages. Tynecastle Park has been the home of Hearts for 140 years, and this year, we celebrate this anniversary coupled with the 10-year anniversary of our Club Museum. For all ages, from 11am - 3pm, we will run mini guided behind the scenes stadium tours! What do the players see on a match day? Follow in the footsteps of your heroes and discover the game day traditions as we show you the players journey around Tynecastle Park.
Giffnock Tennis, Squash and Hockey Club, 10am onwards, 5th – 6th September, East Renfrewshire
Join members of Giffnock TSH Club for all-ages tennis, squash and hockey taster sessions – no experience needed! Head along on Saturday 5th to attend the opening of their brand new tennis courts.
Montrose Sports Centre, Websters Sports Centre, Arbroath Sports Centre and Forfar Community Campus, times vary, 12th - 13th September, Angus
Sports centres across Angus are offering free swims and exercise classes during the Doors Open Days weekend. Head along to Montrose, Arbroath, Websters Sports Centre in Kirriemuir, or Forfar Community Campus to enjoy a free swim. Arbroath Sports Centre are offering two exercise classes: Bodystep and Body Pump, and over at the Community Campus in Forfar you can join a Circuits or Zumba class.
Sight Scotland Veterans, The Linburn Centre, 10am – 3pm, 19th September, West Lothian
The centre offers activities specifically designed for veterans with sight loss. Come along to have a go at acoustic shooting, an adapted target sport that uses optical light sensors to track the bullseye. There will also be the opportunity to do bowling and curling, and the centre will be open for visitors to explore.
Johnstone Amateur Boxing Club, 9am – 4pm, 5th – 6th September, Renfrewshire
We are and Amateur Boxing club based out of 4 corners boxing & fitness gym in a large building. For Doors Open Days coaches will give tours of the gym and invite people to take part in some boxing and fitness drills.
