This fine church was designed by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson in a simple Geometric style, with a separate bell-tower and tall, broach spire. It is one of the most beautifully designed and finished Episcopal churches in Scotland. It was built for Walter Coningsby Erskine, Earl of Mar & Kellie, as a gift to the congregation. Stirling and Clackmannanshire Model Railway Club will be displaying a layout in the church on Saturday from 11.00 to 3.00.

The church building was designed in Salt Lake City and must have looked very American when it was first built. It has unfortunately lost its original copper roof but its elegant needle-topped spire is a familiar landmark on North Anderson Drive.

Features include high-quality 19th/20th-century stained glass windows, Memorial Chapel and military memorials. It has altered little since 1878 and has consistently been well maintained. It remains home to a vibrant Christian community.

Robert Burns Ellisland Farm

Ellisland Farm was built by Robert Burns in 1788 for his young wife Jean Armour and their family. Burns was especially creative at Ellisland, writing a quarter of his songs and poems including Auld Lang Syne and Tam o Shanter. During his time here, his focus moved to song-writing and collecting, including My Heart’s in the Highlands, The Banks of Doon, Killiecrankie and John Anderson. Burns chose Ellisland for its beautiful setting beside the River Nith. It has changed little since the 18th century and remains the most authentic of all his homes.

St Augustine's Church

This A- listed building was designed by the Edinburgh architect Robert Rowand Anderson of Edinburgh. The date of 1873 was recorded on the parsonage. Stylistically, it is an 8-bay, aisled, Gothic church. On entering you will find it quietly elegant and peaceful; a good place for contemplation. There is a side chapel for quiet time and lighting of candles.

One of Stonehaven’s most impressive historic buildings, St James the Great Episcopal Church is a Category A Listed church recognised for its exceptional architectural and historic significance. Designed by the renowned Scottish architect Sir Robert Rowand Anderson, the church was built between 1875 and 1877, with later additions including the chancel, organ chamber, vestry and baptistery. Its striking Romanesque design, high-quality stonework and remarkably intact Victorian interior make it one of the finest Episcopal churches in the north east of Scotland.

St Michael and All Saints Church is a Grade A listed building designed by the Sir Robert Rowand Anderson. Explore stained glass windows and allegorical figures. Built in 1867, this Church features fine altarpieces by William Burges (1867) and C E Kemp (1889) and excellent stained glass by William Wailes, Clayton Bell & Ninian Comper. In this year of Global connections of particular note is the 16th/17th century Spanish Pulpit with carved allegorical figures at the corners.

University of Edinburgh: McEwan Hall

The McEwan Hall was presented to the University in 1897 by William McEwan as a ceremonial hall for graduations and as a gift to the people of Edinburgh. This iconic Grade A listed building was designed by Sir Rowand Anderson, with lavish interiors by William Palin. Construction was completed in 1894, but it took another three years to complete the interior designs, the centrepiece being the 15 beautifully painted mural panels that make up the vast dome. A painstaking refurbishment has restored much of the intricacy to its original beauty and created a modern, superbly equipped space, with state-of-the-art audio visual equipment and accessible facilities.
