29 September 2018 (10.00-16.00)
This ‘Doors Open day’ Scotland-wide event, organised by the Scottish Civic Trust, enables people to visit hundreds of historic buildings such as Hamilton Sheriff Court, outside the normal operating hours of business.
Come along and gain a valuable insight into the work of our Court. Sample the architecture and history of our building which is considered by Historic Scotland to be most appropriately recognised at category A, denoting national significance.
Mock trials will be made available to our visitors, including children, providing an insight into what can happen in our court rooms every day and the roles played by judges, lawyers, clerks, court officers, custody officers and witness service staff. Some light hearted humour makes this both a fun and educational event for children to participate in.
Building Date: 19th century
Building tours, including behind the scenes tours of our cell area and a prison van.
Mock trials and children’s activities, including a scavenger hunt, word search and colouring in.
Tours and mock trials are repeated continually throughout the day from 10am ending for 4pm. Allow at least 1 hour for tour.
