Inside the History of Education Centre is a fully functioning Victorian classroom with wooden desks, blackboards, finger-stocks, and the tawse, as well as a museum full of Victoriana including a kitchen range and a variety of household items, most of which can be handled.

Enjoy a Victorian-style lesson in the classroom and explore the exhibitions and household and other items in the museum room.? Lessons will be held regularly, and will last around 20 minutes.

Year Of Young People: Visitors can find out how young people in the Victorian age experienced both school and home life in Edinburgh.

Facilities

Key Information

Victorian-style lessons at regular intervals each day. Each lesson will last approximately 20 minutes. Volunteers and trustees available for questions and demonstrating equipment.
