Nestled on the hillside of Calton Hill, the Scottish Free French House is the Official Residence of the Consul General of France in Edinburgh. The building was purchased in 1942 by the Free French, who fled Nazi-occupied France and rallied around General de Gaulle in Britain to plan the Liberation of France. Since then the House has been the home of France?s much longer relationship with Scotland, and it has welcomed numerous guests coming from all over the world.
Tours of the building will be ongoing throughout the afternoon.
