A new and award winning property near Aberlour in Moray. Winner of "The Best Green Holiday Home" in the European Holiday Home Awards 2019.
If you've ever wanted to visit an exquisite natural home, this is your chance! Hobbit Hideaway is a holiday home built using locally sourced, plentiful, renewable and recycled materials including straw-bales, round-wood, stone, earth, and clay. It is furnished with a high percentage of pre-loved, re-purposed and recycled treasures. Visitors can enjoy an enchantingly beautiful, low impact holiday, take reusable cups, bottles & bags on days-out, make use of our composting and recycling facilities, use ethically purchased, cruelty-free soaps, drink fresh Scottish spring water, and pick their own fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables, when in season. Their electricity is sourced from 100% renewable energy and interested holiday makers can participate their Live Lightly pledge project! The space is ideal for four but it's deceptively spacious, so we provided two additional sleeping spaces so large families or small groups can holiday in style!
This video takes you on a tour of Hobbit Hideaway, a holiday home with a difference. It was built during the most beautiful summer of 2018, using locally sourced, natural materials. Namely round-wood, straw-bales, stone, clay and mud. It was purposely built and designed to provide a place for people to come together, to relax, unwind, and enjoy the close connection with nature; both inside and out. It is a sanctuary of calm, amidst a world filled with stress. It offers more than just a hint of natural magic! Situated at the foothills of Ben Rinnes, in 3 acres of lush green surroundings, which include a Fairy Glen and a productive permaculture garden, abundant - at the moment - with fresh organic fruit, vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers. It is truly "a wee slice of Scottish paradise!".
Hobbit Hideaway received Green Tourism Gold within 3 months of opening and went on to win Best Green Holiday Home at the European Holiday Home Awards 2019.
