16 September 2021 (7pm-8.30pm)
Ken Nairn, one of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Kantor Speakers will take a tour of Holmston Cemetery where 205 casualties of both World Wars lie. We look at the stories of the fallen and the continuing work of the CWGC. The story of Ayr in both wars covers the earliest US Air Force, the Commandos, RAF Ferry Command, the Newfoundlanders and so many more. One private inscription, of a fallen Commando in the cemetery, sums up the importance of remembrance:
"In memories garden we meet every day."
Meet at Holmston Cemetery at 7pm, parking allowed in the cemetery but off the main thoroughfare. Tour will take 90 minutes.
