JOB OPPORTUNITY: Doors Open Days Digital Content Officer

An exciting opportunity has opened up to help Doors Open Days 2020 go digital! Due to Covid-19, we’re making Doors Open Days more digital and accessible by offering virtual visits to venues, rather than encouraging in-person visits.  In order to make this digital transition, we’re redrafting digital communications plans, redesigning parts of our website  and supporting venues nationwide to develop digital content. JOB DESCRIPTION

Job title: Digital Content Officer 

Appointment term:

This is a full-time post from 3rd August 2020 - 10th October 2020, and then 12.5 hours per week until 31st of March 2021. The salary for the post is £25K pro rata.

Reports to: Doors Open Days National Coordinator

Place of work:

The role will work remotely from 3rd August, until phased return to office working.  The role will then be based at the Scottish Civic Trust offices at 42 Miller Street, Glasgow G1 1DT.

Purpose of role:

  • To provide digital Doors Open Days content support for the Communications Officer, ensuring digital Doors Doors Open Days content contributions are on brand, frequent and have a high visual impact
  • To assist the development and upload of content for the Doors Open Days website
  • To support evaluation of digital Doors Open Days by monitoring analytics and analysing feedback forms

Key duties:

  • Support Communications Officer to develop content for the Doors Open Days website, e-bulletin and social media channels
  • Work closely with the Communications Officer on the strategic development and implementation of Doors Open Days’ digital presence
  • Monitor the effectiveness of Doors Open Days’ online communications, providing regular reports and analysis on digital media trends using Google Analytics and social media metrics
  • Create basic graphic designs for use in digital promotion
  • Manage the Doors Open Days website, uploading content and ensuring it is up to date and engaging
  • Liaise with Doors Open Days web developers and tech support
  • Assist website content contributors (Doors Open Days regional coordinators) with uploading information to the Doors Open Days website
  • Deliver online support for developing and uploading digital content (videos, 360-degree tours, photo galleries) to Doors Open Days venues across the country
  • Support evaluation of Digital Doors Open Days by collating and analysing online feedback form data
  • Support future digital Doors Open Days communications by creating templates and timetables based on this year’s pilot digital activities

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION

  • Degree or equivalent experience of creating and communication content (written/film/imagery)
  • Professional marketing / Communications qualification

KNOWLEDGE/

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in a marketing/communications environment
  • Experience of managing a website and regularly updating content
  • Experience of copy writing and producing accessible digital content
  • Experience of implementing online marketing tactics to drive web traffic, including search, media, optimisation, social networking and email
  • Competent using Word, Excel and other Microsoft packages
  • Competent using Canva for basic graphic design
  • Experience of working in the Scottish heritage/cultural/tourism sectors
  • Experience of Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop
  • Experience of working with Umbraco websites
  • Knowledge of W3C Web Content Accessibility guidelines
  • Knowledge of visitor evaluation analysis
