The ROC underground monitoring post at Stravanan Bay on Bute formed part of a chain of some 865 monitoring posts throughout the United Kingdom from which information on the effects of a nuclear attack on the United Kingdom would have been reported until 1991 when the Corps was stood-down.
This post is currently being restored for public access and restricted visits are possible via a 15 foot vertical steel ladder.
Guided tours will be provided by the 25 Group Royal Observer Corps Association. Pre-booking a time slot via 07513-504115 is absolutely essential. Limited parking available.
