Tucked away behind Duncan of Jordanstone College, this charming 18th century farmhouse is now home to the stores and offices of the University's Museum Services.

Curator Matthew Jarron will give a guided tour round the house, revealing some of the University's fascinating collections of art, science and natural history.

McLean Museum and Art Gallery - Image 1Designed by A Adamson, the museum houses fine displays relating to local industrial heritage. The importance of shipbuilding over the centuries is celebrated in the displays. Much of the ethnographical material on display was brought to Greenock and donated to the McLean by seafarers. The collection of pictures includes spectacular maritime paintings along with works by the Scottish Colourists and contemporary artists.

The history of our premises in Pot Wynd is bound up in the history of Dysart House. It used to be 'Domestic Offices and Laundry' for the Sinclair family and possibly the Nairn family. Then from 1930 became the laundry for the Carmelite Monastery.

Kirkcaldy Art Club bought the building in 1970 for £150!

Activities

It has been improved since then and is now a light, warm building with great paintings and pottery studios.

Come celebrate our beautiful and lively church which features some of the oldest stained glass in Dundee, an impressive hammer beam roof designed Charles Wilson, and listen to our ‘Walcker’ organ.  This Church, described as the Free Church Cathedral, is an active Church of Scotland at the crossroads of city life with a peaceful sanctuary.

Renovations are underway to our Spire funded by Historic Scotland, the Heritage Lottery Fund and by individual donation, fundraising and various Trusts.

University of St Andrews, Senate Room

Description
The Senate Room building dates from 1826 and is used for meetings of the University's senior academic committees.
Activities

The magnificent fireplace and many of the room's fittings were designed by Robert Rowand Anderson in 1897-8. Fine art works by Raeburn, Lely and Wilkie and the world's first split-second clock commissioned in 1673 by James Gregory, Professor of Mathematics and the inventor of the reflecting telescope.

Enter via Parliament Hall entrance on South Street.

Originally an 18th century agricultural barn this building was used as a village washhouse well into the 20th century. Sensitively restored in 1995 into an art studio.
