My Place Photography Competition is the Scottish Civic Trust's photographic competition for all school children in Scotland based on the built heritage of Scotland.
It aims to provide young people with the opportunity to express their thoughts, experiences and perspectives on the heritage, buildings and archaeology around them.
The competition is part of a network of similar events that come together for the ‘International Heritage Photographic Experience’.
Across the world, thousands of children and young adults take part in the International Heritage Photographic Experience, supported by the Council of Europe and linked to European Heritage Days.
My Place Photography Competition is Scotland’s contribution to this initiative.
Launched in 2004 by the Scottish Civic Trust as a pilot competition for Primary 5-6 children aged 9-10 in Midlothian and Aberdeen the competition now has attracts around 500 entries annually from all over the country.
It is an inclusive competition and is open to all school aged children in Scotland.
